About
About Dr Eric Battista
Specialist oral surgeon trained in Naples and NHS maxillofacial units, founder of EB Dental and founder and CEO of RefClin.

Who is Dr Eric Battista?
I am Dr Eric Battista, a dental surgeon on the GDC Specialist List in Oral Surgery, working in London. My work covers dental implants, wisdom teeth and impacted teeth, bone grafts and sinus lifts. In other words, I treat the oral surgery cases that general dentists refer to a specialist. I am also the founder of EB Dental, with clinics in Worcester Park and Kentish Town, and the founder and CEO of RefClin, a UK platform for dental referrals.
Naples, Italy, is where I was born and trained, and I have worked in the United Kingdom since 2014. My General Dental Council registration number is 249546, and you can check it on the public GDC register.
Why did I choose oral surgery?
Surgery was part of my life long before it became my profession. My father is a maxillofacial surgeon, and our family practice in Naples, Studio Odontoiatrico Battista, is where I first saw how a calm, well planned operation can change a patient’s day and, often, their confidence. Later, while I was still a dental student, I worked in that practice and assisted my father in theatre.
What has kept me in oral surgery is the mix of precision and conversation. In fact, every case starts with a question from a worried patient or a referring dentist. A case ends well only when the planning, the surgery and the explanation have all been done properly.

How did Dr Eric Battista train, from Naples to London?
I graduated in Dentistry from the Second University of Naples in 2011. For the next three years I completed vocational training in oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) at the Ospedale Vecchio Pellegrini in Naples. During the same period I earned a Master Diploma in Orthodontics, cum laude, at Federico II University of Naples.
Then, in 2014, I moved to the UK and joined NHS hospital OMFS departments: Eastbourne District General Hospital and the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Glan Clwyd Hospital in North Wales, Northampton General Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital and the Royal London Hospital, and the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. Working alongside experienced maxillofacial consultants, I progressed to more senior hospital roles and gained experience in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
I then returned to formal training. I completed a Master Diploma in Oral Implantology, cum laude, at the Second University of Naples, followed by three years of full time specialty training in Oral Surgery at Federico II University of Naples. In 2022 I was entered on the GDC Specialist List in Oral Surgery.
How does Dr Eric Battista work with patients?
I plan every procedure digitally before I operate. A cone beam CT (CBCT) scan shows the jaw bone in three dimensions, and an intraoral scanner records the teeth and gums without traditional impression trays. After that, I combine the two in planning software such as DTX Studio, 3Shape Implant Studio or coDiagnostiX, so the position of an implant, or the safest route to an impacted tooth, is decided on screen first. My digital dentistry page explains each step.
For implants, the digital plan can be transferred to the mouth with a printed surgical guide or with dynamic navigation. I use the Nobel Biocare implant system and I am part of the Nobel Biocare specialist team for fully guided implant surgery. I was also one of the first oral surgeons in the UK to train on the X-Guide dynamic navigation system. Over my career I have placed more than 2,000 implants.
Technology is only half of the work. For example, many of the people I see are anxious, and some have put off treatment for years. I explain what I am going to do, why I recommend it, how long it will take and what recovery usually looks like. I talk honestly about risks and alternatives, including the option of doing nothing. As a result, patients can ask questions at any point, and nobody is rushed into a decision. My nurse and I work hard to keep the surgery calm and comfortable.

What is EB Dental?
I founded EB Dental in 2022. EB Dental has clinics in Worcester Park and Kentish Town, and a third clinic in Islington is in preparation. EB Dental is where I see my own patients and where colleagues send patients for oral and implant surgery. The addresses and online booking links are on my where I practise page.
Why did I found RefClin?
As a surgeon who receives referrals every week, I know where the process breaks down: incomplete forms, radiographs lost in email chains, and referring dentists who never hear what happened to their patient. I founded RefClin to fix that. RefClin is a UK platform that lets a dentist send a referral, share radiographs and 3D scans, follow the case and receive the report, while the receiving clinic manages all its referrals in one place. I lead the company as founder and CEO, and I explain the idea in more detail on the RefClin page.
Does Dr Eric Battista still do research and teaching?
Yes. My research focuses on computer assisted implant surgery. I was joint first author of a study in Applied Sciences on dynamic navigation for immediate implants in the front of the upper jaw. I have also published surgical case reports, co-authored a paper from a UK head and neck skin cancer referral centre, and lectured in Naples on digital planning and biomaterials. The details are on the research and teaching page.
Who am I outside the clinic?
Away from surgery, rugby has followed me from Naples to North Wales to London. I have played for Partenope Rugby in Naples, Denbigh RFC in North Wales and Ealing RFC in London. In addition, I train at the gym and travel with my family whenever I can.
Italian is my mother tongue, I speak English fluently and I can hold a conversation in Spanish. Italian speaking patients can talk through their treatment with me in their own language.
